About us
The Goan Welfare Society was set up in Nairobi, Kenya, in 1994 by a dedicated founder team to ensure that a situation could be reached where no deserving Goan be rendered homeless, or unable to settle their hospital bills, have no food on their table or be able to send their children to school because of a lack of funds due to difficult and dire circumstances.

We continue to raise funds in the movement of generosity to help communities and families.

Years of Existence
Continuing the work our founder members whose vision was to set up an association that would cater to the needs of the vulnerable and less fortunate members of our Community.

Families Supported
In 2023, we offered support of just under KShs. 2 Million to families via stipends that catered for rent, food, medical & school fees, emergencies, old age homes, nursing care & medicines.

Members of the community who volunteer their time and energy to support all our community events, offer free medical advice, provide security and contribute to our fund-raising events.

GWS is a non-profit organization that relies on the generosity and goodwill of individuals and businesses to help support our cause. A majority of our work goes to offsetting emergency medical bills, acting as guarantors of payment with hospitals; organizing outpatient medical treatment and paying premiums for individual medical insurance schemes; as well as supporting the elderly who require care in addition to providing monthly stipends to those who are unemployed and are incapable of working.
